Back to the circus stories!

I know you were all waiting and waiting for the next installment. Sorry it took so long for me to put this up. As I'm sure you're all aware, Christmas is an insanely busy time.

New Haven, CT

New Haven blurs together with Hartford for me. I'm really not sure which one is which or if I'm remembering just one and not the other. One thing I remember quite well from New Haven is the fun circus parade we had that week. It was probably Thursday or Friday of that week and we all came to work around 10am for probably about a noon parade. There were parade shirts for the staff and the performers were all in costume. The elephants lined up (well behind all of the local bands that were marching with us). We had several old circus wagons that were brought in from the Circus World museum in Baraboo, WI (old winter quarters for Ringling Bros.). Although it made for a long day, it was lots of fun. And the promoters served us a big barbeque after the parade on the top of the parking garage adjacent to the arena.

The animals were housed inside the loading dock in New Haven, which meant we didn't need to set up the two tents, just the picket lines and horse stalls. My trailer was spotted in the small parking lot outside of the loading dock. It was definitely cramped in that lot!

Other than that, there's not much memorable in my mind about New Haven. I kept learning about the show and how it ran. I shadowed a few of the crew guys during some of the shows so that I'd know how that aspect went. I wish I'd done that more throughout the time I was with the show, but there just wasn't time if I wanted to get everything else done. Ah well.

Next time - fun things to know about my trailer (which was originally built for the tall man on the previous tour).
